Wellness and Weight Loss (WWL)
Starts February 1, 2023
This eight (8) session program provides support and education for participants looking to lose or control their weight and optimize their health. Feel better, move better, sleep better, and think better with only a 3 hour commitment per month!
Our groups are consistently losing weight, reducing waistlines, improving blood tests, experiencing better sleep and less discomfort. Everyone completing the WWL programs have improved something! And every class session has lost weight!
Wellness and Weight Loss -- A Deeper Dive (WWL DD)
Starts May 24, 2023
Popular highlights will continue to include sharing wins and successes, and actionable steps and information. Plus sessions will continue to include pearls for optimal weight control, optimal immune system response, and optimal brain health. Plus basic education and support for issues related to digestion, elimination, eating habits, and (of course!) exercise/activity/ movement are woven throughout the program. Support is provided between sessions too! Special addition to this 8 week program; Mindful Morning Movement during every class!
The Wellness and Weight Loss program (WWL) is recommended but not required prior to attending this WWL DD program.
Wellness program groups report lost pounds and feeling better EVERY session.
TheraPaws
Our Therapy Dogs have been part of our physical therapy clinic and educational programs for more than 15 years. To help patients they assist and resist movement, participate in balance training, and provide comfort and emotional support.
Our new club, TheraPaws helps members exercise more with group fitness walks and yoga with our Therapy Dogs Bolt and Ace.
Indoor group activities are on hold due to pandemic precautions. Individual Animal Assisted Therapy is available.
Diabetes Prevention Program
PreventT2 is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It is proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes. Research shows that modest behavior changes, such as making better food choices and increasing physical activity, reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58 percent in people at high risk for developing this disease. The National Diabetes Prevention Program brings together federal agencies, community based organizations, faith-based organizations, employers, insurers, health care professionals, academia, and other stakeholders to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes among people with prediabetes.
The Wahls Protocol
Dr. Terry Wahls is an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner and a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa where she conducts clinical trials. She is also a patient with secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, which confined her to a tilt-recline wheelchair for four years. Dr. Wahls restored her health using a diet and lifestyle program she designed specifically for her brain and now pedals her bike to work each day. Sheryl Poremba, PT has studied with Dr. Wahls and became a Certified Wahls Protocol Health Professional to help her community become healthier, happier, and more active. She also utilizes The Wahls Protocol in her own life.
